The traditional headshot is still critically important and is more important in some industries than others.  For example, an IT worker might look a little different than a banker which will be different than a musician or a college student.  As an Atlanta photographer, a lot of what I do is ask questions around your industry, what you will be using the photos for, what sites you want them for and what image do you want to project?  All this will go into assessing what backdrops, what you should wear and the overall look and feel of your shoot.
