There is nothing I love more than capturing "the moment" in family photos and helping preserve these precious times that go by too fast.  Overall, we as parents are great at capturing the first years of our children's lives... the monthly milestone's and then the yearly ones.... birthday's, celebrations and iphone photos of the day to day.

Once kids get  a little older, I frequently hear  that "we haven't had family photos done in years" and it makes me sad!  The teen years are quick to pass as well.  I have teens myself... a high school freshman girl and a 7th grade middle school girl and I know how hard it is to take time away from sports and social activities and practically beg and plead for the kids to wear what I want them to wear and act agreeable.  Bribery is still an option for older children! :)

With that said, it is so important for these years to be captured as well because kids change and soon they flee the nest and the moments are gone.  Snapshots and iphone photos are awesome but printing some and hanging them is critical too.  I think as our children grow and as their lives are changing so dramatically with regard to friends, hormones, homework, sports, internet safety and more, it is even more important to document the critical family connections.  They need us!  Let's remind them of that. :)

The love, the silliness, the friendship...These tween and teen years are just as important (maybe more so as relationships go) as the newborn and toddler years.  We need to remember those moments and hang them on the wall!  Whether you use a photographer or your iPhone, print them and hang them!

I had a really tough time choosing which images were my favorite on this shoot because I love this family and I love all their photos! :)   This might be one of my most favorite shoots ever... The kids were having a blast... I told them they could do anything they wanted to... run, jump, play, have fun, climb trees... and they did!! :)  That always makes for the best photos and this family did not disappoint.  I love when kids are kids... candid photos are always great, especially at this age.  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!!
