Madden | Open Heart Surgery for 5 Year Old Boy | North Atlanta Photographer

I have had the pure pleasure of photographing this young man for the last several years... Santa visits, family photos and various neighborhood events. He has more personality in his little finger than most people have in their whole body! He loves life, is easy to smile, has a HUGE affinity for airplanes and anything that flies, is quick to laugh and have a chat and he LOVES Santa Claus!! :)

Madden had his first open heart surgery when he was born and his second was just a few weeks ago. Madden was born with "Congenital Heart Defects. It affects 1 in 100 kids, way more common then people think." (Kristi C.) I visited him at home just a few short days after his surgery...Yes, he is outside and playing, smiling and really not slowing down at all... check out the huge scar on his chest!! As part of his life "story", mom and dad asked me to photograph Madden playing and being himself. WIthin a few days of his Open Heart Surgery, he has not slowed down at all. We were outside talking, picking flowers and playing with his airplane. Mom and dad were lovin' on him and I was snapping away. What a gift to be able to share these images with friends and family. It is part of his story... and only 5 years old!

Kristi and Justen (mom and dad) are super hero's as well... the long hours, the worry and anxiety and the care of their sweet boy. It is hard work loving so much and so well...

Kristin Boyer is amazing! She is able to capture those candid "real moments" that arent always easy to get. She is so great with children and she makes it fun for them. Asking someone to photograph your son and family right after getting home from open heart surgery is no easy task. But she rose to the occasion and got pictures that we can have and cherish forever.
