UPDATE ON TAYLOR! She has received a donor heart and is in ICU for the next several days. Please keep the Rand family in your prayers as well as the donor family.
When we become parents, one of the first things we share with our friends and family is "mom is doing great and the baby is healthy". As they grow, change and mature, this is remains a top priority. We do everything we can to ensure good health...regular checkup's, sick visits, exercise and overall good healthcare. Even as we do our best, unexpected events and sickness occurs. We hear stories of illness' along life's journey and for each one, our heart breaks a little, especially when there are children of any age involved and we all wonder "What can I do to help?"
This is the case with Taylor Rand. My daughter is friends with this bright, sweet, funny, caring young girl and we were planning a fall car pool for their freshman year of high school. Suddenly and unexpectedly, plans changed... Taylor (age 14) contracted a virus that attacked her heart and she is now awaiting a heart transplant. To date, she has been in the hospital for over 6 weeks, has has multiple surgeries and yet her positive spirit and personal strength remain an enormous inspiration to so many.
Hannah, my 14 year old daughter, and I want to host a mini session photo shoot for friends, families, dogs, kids... If you can bring it, we can photograph it! We are asking for a $125 suggested donation and you will receive ALL the high resolution digital images and a print release. Our goal is to raise $2000 and we can do together. 100% of the money raised will be given to Taylor's Go Fund Me page. We will present the Rand Family with a photo collage that each participating family will be able to sign.
You can sign up for one of the 20 minute photo session appointment HERE. Sept 17th, 8:30 - 2:30 location TBA.
Here is a little bit of her story from her Go Fund Me page (www.gofundme.com/taylorrand) And / or you can follow her progress on her caringbridge.org site, Taylor Rand.
"So many know the smiles and joy that Taylor Rand brings to everyone she meets. She comes from a wonderful family - Kim her mother, Darren her father and Emerson her younger sister. The Rands have been an incredible family in our community and are always the first in line to help anyone in need.
In a very short time, Taylor contracted a virus which attacked and greatly damaged her heart. The virus caused irreversible damage to both ventricles that required a thirteen hour operation to install two VAD pumps on either side of her heart. The pumps are a temporary solution to keep blood flow throughout her body until a donor heart becomes available for a heart transplant...
We, as parents, would never spare any expense to keep our children safe and alive. Darren and Kim are no exception. Taylor has the finest care possible and the Rands are blessed to be close to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta with the finest surgeons available.
The Rands have insurance, however, there are many expenses and copays that will present themselves now and in the coming years that insurance will not cover. One major expense that is not fully covered is the transplant rejection drug medications that Taylor will need for the rest of her life. Just this expense alone might run in the several hundreds of thousands of dollars." ~ Quote from Taylor's Go Fund Me Page https://www.gofundme.com/taylorrand
*The images in this flyer are NOT the Rand family. They are wonderful families I have photographed in the past.
